O curso é gratuito e desenvolvido pelo Ministério do Meio Ambiente (MMA) e o ICLEI-Brasil com apoio da Embaixada Britânica.
Tem a finalidade de apoiar e preparar os gestores para produzirem seus planos e aperfeiçoarem a implantação da Política Nacional de Resíduos Sólidos e é dividido em módulos, onde são sugeridos textos e vídeos complementares, bem como atividades e fóruns de discussão para que o aluno conheça e se aprofunde nos principais conceitos para elaboração de qualificado um plano de gestão.
Os participantes devem se dedicar, em média, dez horas semanais durante um mês. O curso é oferecido por meio de plataforma com acesso restrito aos alunos onde os módulos ficam disponíveis. Cada participante acessa a plataforma e cursa as aulas nos horários que lhe for mais conveniente. Após o início, são 30 dias para finalizar o curso todo.

The“Estação Ecológica de Juréia-Itatins (EEJI), located at Vale do Ribeira, south littoral of São Paulo. It has an area of 79.230ha and covers part of the cities of Peruíbe, Iguape, Itariri and Miracatu. The environment Protected Areas were created with the objectives of give protection” to the natural areas that are yet not degraded and with rich biodiversity and sight beauty to be preserved as the memory of an environmental past squandered along the humanity history.

JURÉIA-ITATINS
ECOLOGICAL STATION 
South-eastern Brazil

Location:	In southern coastal area of São Paulo State, between latitudes 24°17'-24°40'S and longitudes 47°00'-47°30'W.
Area:	792 km².
Altitude:	0-800 m.
Vegetation:	Open "campo" on mountaintops, moist forests on mountainsides, "restinga" vegetation and mangrove swamps near ocean.
Flora:	High diversity and high endemism expected, at least 500-600 species; some disjuncts from Amazonia; threatened species.
Useful plants:	Rich in medicinals; species for fibres, timbers (especially Tabebuia cassinoides); edible species (especially Euterpe edulis); ornamentals.
Other values:	Ecological sanctuary for threatened fauna; research station; potential genetic resources; ecotourism; historical sites.
Threats:	Palm-heart gathering, logging, hunting.
Conservation:	Assured with establishment of Juréia-Itatins Ecological Station.
